One frosty morning in Antarctica, Pennu stood at the top of a shiny white hill.
His flippers trembled just a little. The hill looked very, very tall.
Pennu took a deep breath, tucked in his red scarf, and gave the tiniest wobble forward.
“Wheeeee!”
Down he went, laughing all the way to the bottom.
When Pennu looked down, he suddenly noticed that his red scarf was missing.
Confused, he looked all around him.
No scarf.
He searched the snowy hill, but it was nowhere to be seen. A tiny tear rolled down his warm cheek as he wobbled back towards the sea, where his mum and siblings were spending the day catching krill.
Suddenly, Pennu spotted some of his friends playing in the snow.
One little penguin was holding a red scarf in her flipper.
“Is this yours?” she asked.
Pennu’s face lit up. With happy wobbles, he hurried over and took the scarf in his flippers.
What a wonderful day!
First, Pennu had found the courage to do something he had never dared to do before: slide down a steep, icy hill.
And now he had his lovely red scarf back too.
With proud little steps, Pennu returned to his family just in time for a delicious meal of freshly caught krill.
