Unfortunately, this fascination comes at a price. Axolotls have been collected and traded as exotic pets, leaving very few in the wild today. Please let them stay in their natural home in Mexico and never take a wild axolotl home.
Another serious problem is pollution, especially plastic waste, which affects axolotls and many other freshwater animals.
