Sea turtles lay their eggs on sandy beaches. When the baby turtles hatch, they often use the light from the moon and the stars to help guide them towards the ocean, where they belong. How clever is that?
There are seven species of sea turtles in the world. They spend almost their entire lives in the sea and only come onto land when the mother turtle lays her eggs.
Here’s another amazing fact! The temperature of the sand helps decide whether the baby turtles will be boys or girls. Cooler sand usually produces more males, while warmer sand produces more females. I bet Tindra’s beach was nice and warm!
