Habitat
The frozen coasts and sea ice of Antarctica, the coldest place on Earth.
Diet
Fish, squid and tiny shrimp-like creatures called krill.
Size
About 1.1–1.3 metres tall and 22–45 kg — the tallest penguin in the world.
Lifespan
Around 15–20 years in the wild.

Near Threatened
Melting sea ice is making life harder for emperor penguins, and their colonies are shrinking.
