Habitat
Warm tropical and subtropical oceans, coral reefs and seagrass meadows.
Diet
Mostly seagrass and algae — that's what gives their fat its green colour.
Size
Up to 1.5 metres long and 130–190 kg — one of the biggest hard-shelled turtles.
Lifespan
Often 70–80 years, sometimes more than 100!
IUCN Status
Endangered
Plastic pollution, fishing nets and lost nesting beaches are the biggest threats.

A mother green turtle can lay over 100 eggs at a time — and she might do it several times in one season!
